Had a student for a week and we now completed #175 and 176 both were BRW adi top based off 1937 for the dred and 1931 spec on the 000-12. I did use a 3 piece back. The purfling went to a 40 series pearl and we dug up a piece of BRW for the head plate veneer on the dred. I cut and inlaid that in the old Martin torch pattern. Also we did the old tortoise dots in the neck binding. This is something you can do simply with a drill press. The end result was 2 nice guitars that are ready for finish. Some really nice looking guitars posted this weekend; like the inlay work. John can I ask how many guitars did you build before you had the courage to build one out of BRW? or did you go there early on? Anyway, congrads on two fine looking guitars. And John, don't look back because I'm right on your heels, just 169 guitars back. |

My first BRw was about #25 and is still my main guitar. I built that with David Nichols in Malone NY. Dave also taught me inlay and other fine arts of the building process. I have made about 70 BRW guitars to date. |
